Tunga Art Lab and the Peacebuilding Initiatives
Weaving Our Stories meets with Tunga Art Lab and the Peacebuilding Initiatives. About Session: Learn about how art can serve as a powerful tool for activism. For over 30 years, the ongoing genocide in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, fueled by global greed for valuable minerals and natural resources, has been largely overlooked by the global community. Our speakers will explore the connection between this crisis and the art they create, highlighting how their work raises awareness and calls for action against this tragic violence and exploitation. About Tunga Art Lab: The mission of Tunga Art Lab is to give new life and hope to this population that has been suffering for decades, to build links between local, national and international artists with the local community of Goma through the activities of the laboratory, such as: Providing for the needs of its oppressed families, giving them food, providing them with medical care, drinking water, clean clothes, places to sleep, but also organizing artistic events, such as the Bienale in view to give life to this community and create links between artists from around the world and the community of Goma.
